Steve Benezra

I started woodturning in late 2011 under the mentorship of Frank Penta.  I started out with simple spindle turning and progressed, as my skill allowed, onto bowls and platters.  Today my work reflects my interest in design both classic and modern.  The turnings I do today run from functional bowls, platters and spindle turnings to purely artistic work that focuses on form rather than function.  I let the beauty of the various woods I turn speak for themselves with little “enhancements” which draws the eye to the design of the finished piece and grain of the wood.  I am constantly experimenting with new forms and finishes as my skills continue to improve.
