Friday and Saturday Open Turning

The Chapel Hill Woodturners teach woodturning to those who want to learn or improve their skills at the club shop most Fridays and Saturdays.  No experience is necessary. The cost is $25 per day. You can attend either or both of the days. Fridays, from 9am until 2pm and Saturday from 9am until 1pm.

You will learn safety practices, tool use, wood selection and finishing. Attendees progress at their own pace.  All equipment, tools and wood is provided. Once attendees are comfortable with the tools, they may undertake turning projects of their choosing guided by our instructors. This is a great way to meet the club membership and let the membership get to know you. This is the most common pathway to membership into this invitation only club.

Our instructors are experienced woodturners and have  been demonstrators at numerous woodturning clubs and at regional and national symposia. They have taught at John C. Campbell Folk School,  Arrowmont School for Arts and Crafts, the Appalachian Center for Crafts and at Snow Camp, for the New England Craft Program.

Our club shop is located at 2616 Old Greensboro Road, Chapel Hill inside the Lawton Self Storage facility.

Check our Calendar and contact us if you'd like to come learn and turn with us!
